Update on the future of Ercall Magna, as of 2nd July, 2015
Following a demand for £3,500 in annual rent from the Company Director of the Cleveland Arms, High Ercall, for use of the green – just seven days and un-negotiable – the club has, with great sadness, decided to leave its home of 41 years.
It will, thanks to hugely appreciated efforts of the committee at Bowring (and the understanding of all leagues), be moving to that Wellington club for the remainder of the season – all six teams carrying on by playing their home games at Bowring. And all club officers are continuing in their roles too.
Please note therefore that all Ercall Magna home Mid Shropshire Senior Citizens League division 4 matches on Wednesdays will now be played on the old green at Bowring.
If possible, the club would like to be renamed Ercall @ Bowring, in all league fixtures, results and tables etc to try and avoid any confusion.
All bowlers visiting Newport to play league matches have been asked to park in the right places by club officials.
The best option is to park at the adjoining Newport Cricket Club, parking sensibly to allow maximum use of the restricted space.
Drivers can also park in Granville Avenue, as long as they observe the double yellow line restrictions, or the nearby Audley Avenue as it runs towards the Burton Borough School.
Newport officials thank all visitors for their co-operation in this matter.
