Competition Results 2023


Over 75's Played on Thursday 29th June at Newport

Eight bowlers competed for the Over 75's Trophy and the results can be seen on the Results Service.

Congratulations go to Dave Maiden of SJB who beat club mate Tony Roche 21-11 in the final. In the semi-finals, Dave beat Peter Driver (Bylet)  21-11 while Tony beat Tony Steadman (Bylet) 21-9.

League Individual Merit Played on Thursday 17th August at St Georges

The last 8 of the League Individual Merit played to a conclusion on the bottom green at St Georges on Thursday 17th August. Congratulations to the winner John Clarke.

The final was an all Wrockwardine Wood affair with John beating team mate Steve Faulkner 21-16. Losing semi-finalists were Les Mumford (Madeley Cricket Club) and Dave Brown (Sinclair).

League Doubles Finals Played at Bridgnorth on Thursday 31st August

Congratulations to St Georges pair Ian Gaut & Cliff Johnson on winning the League Doubles with an impeccable display of corner bowling in the quarter and semi finals. In the final they beat Norman Harvey & Keith Pessall of Sir John Bayley 21-6 in a high quality match that was much closer than the score suggests.

Losing semi-finalists were George Emlyn & Eddie Gillespie (Donnington Wood) and Alan Ludlow-Rhodes & Peter Burd (Horsehay). Scores are on the results service here.

The trophies were presented by League President Ken Tonkiss and Competition Secretary Rob Renke thanked everyone for attending and Bridgnorth for hosting the finals.

Charity Shield & Consolation Finals Played on Wednesday 4th October at Wrockwardine Wood

St Georges A edged out Newport A in the final of the Charity Shield with four winners and by seven chalks. The match card is here.

Consolation Shield

Donnington Wood A of Division 2 used just two of their twelve shot handicap to beat Highley A of division 1 by 10 on the new bottom green at Wrockwardine Wood. Winners were shared three apiece. Final scores are here.
