Proposals for the AGM - Updated
The following proposals affecting the league rules were discussed at the AGM on Thursday 16th February at Sinclair:
Proposed by Albrighton.
Amend current rule 9(a): Teams shall consist of six male bowlers who have reached the age of 60, are registered with the BCGBA and registered with the Fixture Secretary seven days prior to their first game.
Remove the word 'male'.
Justification for change: As a club Albrighton struggled throughout the 2022 season to field two teams of 6, a situation that we believe we are not unique with. We also believe that due to the current economic climate that the country is facing, fewer players will be available for next season as the purse strings for individuals tighten. The removal of the word male from rule 9(a) thus enabling women to bowl in the league will go a long way to ensure that clubs can continue to field their maximum number of teams for the 2023 season by having the option to field mixed gender teams if they so desire.
Defeated 18-20Proposed by Horsehay
Some clubs have one green and several teams, and the fixtures mean that that two games are played at the same time. To avoid games going on until after 5pm, and some people play on Wednesday evenings, could one of the games start at 12pm and the other at 2pm. We believe that this does happen in other leagues.
DefeatedProposed by League Chairman Brian Williams and seconded by League President Ken Tonkiss
Club subscriptions must be paid by November 30th. Failure to do so will result in a £25 fine.
CarriedProposed by the Management Committee
Honoraria for league officers should be increased by 10%.
CarriedProposed by the Management Committee
The singles and doubles competitions although free to enter should incur a £1 fee per player to be paid to the host club.
CarriedProposed by the Management Committee
All clubs with more than one team should star 4 players per team.
WithdrawnProposed by the Management Committee
No regular player may play down more than one team.
CarriedProposed by the Management Committee
Amend current rule 7(a): All Clubs shall 14 days prior to the first fixture send the Fixture Secretary a list of all their registered bowlers complete with forename and BCGBA numbers. All registrations after this date must be sent to the Fixture Secretary 7 days prior to the player taking part.
Change '7 days' to '48 hours'.
CarriedProposed by St Georges
Delete current rule 9(b): Each Club with more than one team in the same division shall nominate a list of four players for each team who will only be allowed to play for that team during the season. Any deviation from this rule shall be at the discretion of the Fixture Secretary. Registration of these nominated players must be given to the Fixture Secretary at least 7 days before commence of season.
Replace with: No player shall be allowed, in any given season, to play for more than one team in the same division unless by way of transfer detailed in rule 7(b).
WithdrawnProposed by St Georges
Add the following new rule 9(c): Any club with more than one team competing in the same division must (where multiple greens exist) play their respective home games on different greens.
